Owners Comments:

Curtis & Pape need no introduction to classic boat enthusiasts. Launched in 1962 (as Palinode) Arran Rose has the classic good looks of a Gentleman’s Motor Yacht but thanks to the builder using the very best available timber and fittings, she has the robust strength of a much bigger fishing boat type.
She has never been €œrestored€ because quite simply she has never remotely needed anything replaced. She was “built by the best – with the best” and it shows – in her elegant looks and superb seakeeping abilities.
Should the weather be inclement, the inside steering position in the wheelhouse is safe and warm with excellent visibility aided by the Kent Clear View screen, but in good weather, the outside helming position is a positive joy. Low speed manoeuvring in marinas is perfectly straightforward using the twin propellers. She also goes astern easily at low speed.
Arran Rose has cruised the West of Scotland and Irish waters for at least the last 35 years, having previously done a year or two in the Med. The previous owner, who also owns a respected boatyard, removed the engines in 1990 for a complete strip down and re-build. They have been lightly used and regularly serviced ever since and still start €œfirst time every time€ and run beautifully. Combined they only burn one and a half gallons per hour at 7.5 knots. She can run for hours at almost 10 knots but fuel consumption will increase quite a bit. Surprisingly, she can also sail not too badly, but not terribly quickly, and don€™t expect to win any races!
The current owner has replaced a lot of the electronics and all the interior and exterior lighting to LEDs All this work has been done professionally and sympathetically and as a result, she is as near original in looks as when she was launched in 1962. She is in commission on the Clyde until the beginning of October when she will be going back inside for the winter months.
Apart from personal belongings the seller is leaving Arran Rose with everything on board that was used for all his family cruising. He is finally “Swallowing the anchor”.

BROKERS NOTE:

ARRAN ROSE is a particularly well-built and maintained ketch-rigged motor yacht and although not quite a 50/50 her rig could be enlarged for long distance cruising. An ideal boat for cruising the Western Isles or beyond with comfortable accommodation and separate aft double cabin.
A rare opportunity as very few motor-sailer were built in the UK and are highly sought-after.
Available for inspection/ survey anytime. Booked for covered Winter storage from mid October 2017.
