Broker's Details:

HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

Bonsano was built by Louis Gale, The Harbour, Paignton for W J MacAndrew of Reigate and registered with Lloyds on 22nd June 1935.  In April 1942 she was requisitioned by HM Government for war duties although research to-date has not revealed Bonsano's role, which was probably coastal and harbour patrol.

Carvel pitch-pine hull, copper fastened to oak timbers, with oak floors and centre-line and cast iron ballast keel. Straight plumb stem, wine-glass transom stern. Hull fibre glass sheathed in 2005, offering a low maintanance, water-tight vessel. Sheathed pine decks with oak structure, varnished teak wheelhouse and cockpit.

Traditional teak fitted accommodation retaining the style and character of the period.

Forward heads compartment.

Full width galley, with 12 volt fridge, gas cooker, sink unit, pantry and crockery lockers.

Saloon with settee berths port and starboard. Sideboard with drawers and adjoining fold down wash basin. Wardrobe and cupboards.

Wheelshelter with side deck doors, port helm, access to engines under bridge deck. Two occasional berths and childs berth. Fold down canvas awnings.

Rebuilt twin 1.5 35hp BMC diesel engines with Borg Warner hydro gearboxes. New shafts and bearings. Vetus hydraulic steering.

BROKERS NOTE:

A fine, traditional motor-yacht, inspected and found to be in good condition, not over restored and retaining lots of original features. Designed as a high speed launch, probably as a Solent tender to a large yacht. The fine hull shape, leading aft to a yacht like transom makes for a fast and easily driven vessel.
