HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

The now famous Windfall Yachts mostly consist of Goering's fleet of racing vessels which were built for the 1936 Olympics. The Yachts were immaculately maintained throughout the War years and were requisitioned by the British as war reperations and sailed back to the UK from Kiel in 1946.

Relher,one of the 100 square metre yachts was allocated to the Household Division and re-named Gladeye being primarily used by officers and guardsmen for sail training. The origins of the name Gladeye come from the popular First World War music hall song 'Give her the glad eye now'

Gladeye achived some racing success during the 1950 and 60's including the Fastnet, taking a first in A Division Class in 1955. In the mid 1970's Gladeye, still being sailed by the Household Division Y C was replaced with a more modern vessel and a consortium of three owners purchased her. Robert Smith, John Smith and Elizabeth Taylor from Scotland became registered owners and Gladeye was stationed at Inverness.

The current owner purchased the vessel in the mid 1980's and re-named her Eisvogel, German for Kingfisher. Since she has won most of the South Coast races in the UK and with the owner at the helm won the cup in an RORC Transatlantic, Las Palmas to Barbados. In a race, Newcastle to Bremerhaven she beat a sister ship (identical hull) by eight hours.

Composite construction with mahogany strakes on oak and steel frames. Yacht laid teak deck and teak coamings, rails, hatches and brightwork. New teak deck fitted in 2010. Complete re-wiring 2011. New keel bolts in 2012 and new stainless steel fuel and water tanks in 2012.

Racing style accommodation for nine in three separate cabins

Galley with gimballed gas cooker, two sink units, pantry and crockery lockers.

Heads compartment with Jabsco marine wc.

50hp Perkins 4108 diesel engine installed new in 1972.

Keel stepped pine masts and spars. Ketch rig sets about 1060 sq. ft. plain sail. Four headsails, two mainsails, mizzen, Hood cruising chute and spinnaker donated by Prince Philip for winning the Fastnet.
