HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

The Rambler 35 Class dates from 1963 and was designed by Jack Laurent Giles, one of the most influential English yacht designers of 20th Century. He designed many traditional sailing yachts such as the Vertue and Wanderer Classes as well as later production yachts including the Westerly range. The first of the Rambler Class was Rose Rambler built for Humphrey Barton in 1963.

La Chica was first launched in 1963 and registered in Poole.

Carvel teak hull, copper fastened to steam bent teak timbers and frames. Teak laid decks and teak cabin coamings and cockpit.

Traditionally fitted interior with teak and oak joinery.

Fo'c'sle with single berths to port and starboard.

Saloon with three settee berths.

Galley with Plastimo Neptune 4500 cooker, 12 volt fridge, stainless steel sink unit, pantry and crockery lockers. Hot water via and immersion engine interchange. 50 gallon freshwater supply in two separate tanks.

Heads compartment with marine pump out wc and wash basin.

Aft cockpit.

33hp Lombardini four cylinder diesel engine fitted in 1997. About 200 hours recorded. Three blade bronze propeller. About 8 knots. 16 gallon fuel capacity. Three 12 volt batteries. 240 volt shore power.

Bermudian masthead rig sets about 468 sq. ft. with 35ft deck stepped silver spruce mast, 17ft boom.

Six terylene sails, some by Payne sail makers. Stainless steel standing rigging.

A much loved, long ownership Rambler 35 offered in good sailing commission throughout. All original documentation available including the agreement between the builder and first owner and original drawings. Owned by Lt. Cdr. Coxwell of Falmouth during the 1980's and bought by the current owners in 1990.
