HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

Sally of Kames was designed by James McGruer for Ian Muirhead of Lochan Brae, Gareloch Head, Dumbartonshire and built to Lloyds 100A1 by Bute Slip Dock Company of Port Bannatyne and launched in July 1953. She remained in class under successive owners until September 1976.

The second registered owner was N Sanderson of Suffolk Lodge, White Craigs, Glasgow who continued to keep Sally of Kames on a Clynder mooring. In 1964 H L Massey of Helensburgh became the third owner followed in 1970 by Professor W F H Jarrett of Alreock House, Blanefield, Stirlingshire.

In the late 1970s John Cotterill acquired the yacht, moving her to Rhu. His address at the time c/o HMS Neptune, Faslane, Dumbartonshire. The present owner bought the vessel in 2009 and has since continued to upgrade Sally of Kames with specialist shipwrights undertaking any necessary repairs.

One of only two yachts known to have been built to this design, Sally of Kames is indeed a most attractive and appealing cruiser/racer, easily sailed single handed or with a crew. She is in exemplary condition and only offered for sale due to the owners family commitments.

BROKERS NOTE:

A particularly special yacht of great distinction which has been the subject of much care and attention in the current 'no expense spared' ownership. Re-launched in May 2017 and on a Chichester Harbour mooring Sally of Kames is ready for the season. She is an ideal short handed vessel with sheet leads and lines back to the generous cockpit. Equally successful as a class racer or cruising yacht, she is much admired and a desirable yacht to own.

Viewing strongly recommended.
