HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

The New York Commuter Yachts need little introduction as the finest vessels of their type designed to transport the wealthy traders from Long Island to Manhattan.

These finely built, elegant and practical express motor-yachts date from the early 20th Century and by the late 1920’s had become legendary. Mohican, built in 1929 is one of the most well-known of the ‘Manhattan Commuters’ and was rebuilt over a six-year period by Circolo Nautico Italiano, by talented shipwrights who retain up to 95% of the original design.

The current, experienced classic yacht owner has a keen eye for original detail. He spent considerable time and effort researching and documenting the original specifications of the Consolidated Yachts Commuters, this has resulted in one of the finest restorations of these iconic boats.

Mohican is of double planked mahogany construction on cedar frames, all bronze screw fastened. Teak decks and superstructure all varnished.

The quality re-furbished interior with quality mahogany joinery throughout offers seven berths in three cabins, together with three heads compartments with pressurised water systems and showers.

Well equipped galley with two fridges, double sink and six burner stove, ideal for entertaining on board.

Cruising speed 27mph, maximum speed 32mph. 2,500-litre fuel capacity in stainless-steel tanks. 1,200 fresh water capacity in copper tanks.
