HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
Designed by the famous marine architect and former director of Clyde based Silvers. John Bain has a good reputation for fine motor yachts and for the series of “”Miss Silver Class’ motor sailers. “”Alison’ is an enlarged and improved version of this class and offers roomy accommodation having a full width saloon coachroof allowing good standing headroom below and good foreward deck space for sail changing. The centre cockpit with a doghouse in the Hillyard style gives good access to the owners aft stateroom.
Built in 1962 for Harold Musker OBE MC, of Riverlea, Warsash and launched as Fiducia of Warsash . The second registered owner, William Cheal re-named the vessel Alison and in 1973 converted her to a sloop, keeping her on a mooring at Littlehampton.
In the present sixteen year ownership Alison has practically been re-built and is in excellent order through as evidenced in the July 2012 survey report.
Carvel mahogany planking on heavy sawn oak frames with two steam bent intermediate timbers, copper fastened. The sawn frames have been refastened wirg 2.5 inch silicone bronze wood screws. Massive oak floors, with re-galvanised steel plate facings. Substantial deck construction with sheathed marine-ply decks with stainless steel deck stanchions, pulpit and pushpit. Varnished mahogany coach roof with bronze ports and teak fitted cockpit. Long external ballast keel with new keel bolts during the refit. Internal lead trimming ballast.
Epoxy sheathed marine grade plywood decks, varnished mahogany superstructure.
Masthead ketch rig with a varnished Sitka Spruce masts and booms, deck stepped with stainless-steel standing rigging.
Attractive, traditional accommodation in two separate cabins.
Fore Peak with chain locker, sail stowage, storage lockers.
Saloon with 6ft 6ins settee berths to port and starboard with lift up back panels creating two further full sized berths.
Galley with Flavel Vanessa two burner cooker with oven and grill. Sink unit, pantry and crockery lockers. 100 gallons fresh water capacity.
Navigation Station to port side. GX1100 VHF radio, new September 2010.
Heads Compartment with original 1960’s Baby Blake marine wc.
Owners Aft Stateroom with berths to port and starboard having central drawers between. Deck hatch.

Engine Room housing the 63hp THORNYCROFT FOUR-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, approx 1994. Giving a cruising speed of about 5 knots and a maximum of 8 knots. Shaft driven bronze 22/15 propeller.
100 gallon fuel capacity in two tanks. Two 70 ah batteries, Red Flash 3500 engine starting, Sealed lead acid for domestic.
