‘Beyond’ was built by J H Taylor in 1966 for Ben Seymour of Ashton-Under-Lyme, a member of the North Cheshire Cruising Club, Near Stockport who kept her on the club moorings.  Taylors of Chester, established in 1914 by Joseph Taylor built a wide variety of vessels from passenger launches, tugs, fishing boats, to Dee Skiffs. From the 1950’s to the 1970’s the firm produced to order a variety of narrow beam mahogany cruisers, mostly designed by Wilfred Taylor including ‘Beyond’

Archive Super 8 footage of early voyages by Ben Seymour in ‘Beyond’ to the Thames and Avon are now available on DVD from the Cheshire Cruising Club.  Liz Hanham became the next owner replacing the original Stuart Turner Diesel with the current Volve Penta.  Purchased by the current owner in 2005 a full refurbishment was completed by Peter Freebody of Hurley-on-Thames in 2008.  In 2010 the vessel was anti-fouled and the interior and exterior painted and varnished.

Carvel mahogany planked hull on oak timbers.  Varnished mahogany superstructure.

Traditional style accommodation for two to four with forward twin berths converting to double with storage beneath.  Saloon settee to starboard pulls out to create a second double or large single berth with drawers and lockers under.  Galley with two burner gas stove with oven and grill, stowage under.  Stainless steel sink unit and drainer, pantry and crockery lockers below.  Wardrobe, cupboard and shelving.  Chemical WC.

20hp Volvo Penta 3 cylinder four-stroke diesel engine, fitted by Pilkington Marine on 1st February 1984.  Low hours only.

Large aft cockpit with new canopy in 2008.  Automatic bilge pump.

Boat Safety Scheme Cert. August 2014.  BW License September 2011.
