HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

The Storebro Royal Cruiser III was built by this well-known and respected boatbuilder in Sweden between 1965 – 1969 with 250 boats completed. The design by Otto Scheen and Winfried Wilke was a great success with good handling characteristics and seaworthiness, as such a Royal Cruiser III won the Pavillion d’Or in 1965. Charles Aznavour owned an example during the 1960s.

Launched as CARUA for her first owners Mr & Mrs F C Rea of Victoria House, Portsmouth in 1966. Registered in Southampton, official number – 308972. Kept at Hamble during the Rea’s ownership until sold to Mr & Mrs T R Jackson of Tower Cottage, Market Harborough about 1970. Kept on moorings in Plymouth and Dartmouth during the 1970s. Moved on to the Stratford River Avon some years ago and purchased by the current owners who have meticulously refitted ROMANTISH from stem to stern while retaining the classic character and styling but with modern amenities.

Close seamed carvel mahogany hull on steam bent oak timbers all through copper fastened.
Painted mahogany superstructure, sheathed coachroof. Teak laid decks. Mahogany cockpit coamings and brightwork. Original deck hardware.

ENGINES:
Twin 83hp Volvo Penta MD27 six-cylinder diesel engines fitted new 1966. Shaft drive.
Serviced in 2018. Two batteries and a charger. Calorifier providing pumped hot water to the galley and heads compartment.

GALLEY:
New professionally fitted galley 2018 built using solid mahogany and period materials.
New s/steel sink with chrome-plated marine quality brass tap. New Thetford 3 burner gas hob with glass lid. S/steel sheet to bulkhead next to hob. New Thetford oven and grill. Chrome-plated brass shelf next to sink. Kitchen roll holder and a s/steel cupboard with mirror door and Venetian blind. All new in 2018.

HEADS:
Brand new Porta Potti (never used). New top surface with under storage built-in white Formica and solid mahogany. Porcelain sink and chrome plated marine quality brass tap. S/steel cabinet with mirror door all new in 2018. Venetian blind and good size mahogany frame mirror with light above.

SALOON:
Good size table with dinette seats either side. Table drops to make up a
double bed. New seating upholstery in 2018. Table surface and surface tops
all new in 2018. New overhead glass pendant light. New Venetian blinds and fridge plus a new television all new in 2018. New mains sockets throughout some with USB ports.

COCKPIT:
A large sociable cockpit comprising a third of the vessel with a large removable table and aft full-width bench seat with new weatherproof seating in cream new in 2018. Two new
cream adjustable captains chairs with armrests. Boathook with new chrome hook.
New large cockpit cover with windows and a full bow cover by Harris Hoods of Upton in 2018.

DECKS:
Teak laid decks. 3/4 s/steel pulpit from cockpit to bow. Anchor and chain, windlass plus
warps and fenders.

HULL:
Recently painted hull in white in August 2019. November 2019 antifoul.
Transom recently varnished with a new nameplate.

The boat has newly fitted carpets throughout in the cockpit and saloon in 2018.
Fire extinguishers new in 2018 for BSS. Two 1kg plus one 2kg.
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in the saloon.

BROKERS NOTE:

An exceptionally well presented Royal Cruiser with an immaculate refitted interior, most likely the best example available for the money. An ideal vessel for coastal, estuary or inland waterway use with an enormous aft cockpit for family and friends to relax aboard.
