HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:
Ake Ameen is a highly respected Swedish yacht designer working in the first half of the 20th Century in Stockholm. DIANA was designed by Ake Ameen in 1937 for Sigurd Golje of Stockholm.
DIANA remained in Sigurd’s ownership for nearly four decades sailing Swedish waters. During the 1970s and 80s, DIANA was in the ownership of Sven Winquist in Sweden.
The current owner of some 5 years has continued a careful maintenance programme retaining the originality and period style of the vessel.
Work since 1988 includes:
1988 Replace approximately 1 metre of planking along the waterline
1990 New sails
1992 New cockpit, companionway, soles, pantry and saloon.
1993 Change top strake and re-sealing, iron parts re-galvanized.
1994 New rudder etc,
1996 Installation of holding tank appr 40 litres.
1997 New engine beds
Rib reparation etc.
New cooler,
1999 New 2nd cabin in the fo’c’sle.
2000 New diesel engine,
All bolts through mast changed,
New front dog house
2002 New stainless water tanks appr 110 litres in total.
2012 Strengthening of mast foot with stainless U-beam.
2013 Extra berth.
New boat tent 14 x 4 x 4.5 metres
2014 Gunwhale sanded and varnished
2017 New toilet and grey water pump.
New stainless window frames and partly new windows
3 new batteries
Start motor refurbished, new ignition lock, engine service
2018 New Garmin plotter with integrated echo sounder,
Log anchor re-galvanized and painted black
New sink in stainless steel
New Furlex and new genoa sail
Deck sanded, caulked and varnished 10 coats
New fridge compressor
2019 New upholstered cushions except for the backrest in the saloon,
2019 Superstructure sanded and varnished 3 to 9 coats.
Mahogany planked hull, copper fastened on steam-bent timbers. Oregon Pine deck, Mahogany coachroof coamings and cockpit. Mahogany brightwork.
Traditional interior with teak and mahogany joinery. Accommodation for six in three separate cabins including the saloon. Heads compartment with recent marine wc and washbasin.
Galley with gas cooker and oven, stainless steel sink unit, pantry and crockery lockers. 100 litres fresh water in two tanks.
36hp NANI DIESEL ENGINE, fitted new in 2000. Two 50 litre fuel tanks. Three batteries (2018) Three bladed propeller.
YAWL RIG sets about 750 sq.ft. Seven sails from 1990 to 2017.
