HISTORY & DESCRIPTION:

RAMILLE was built for Colonel O H Bayldon in 1938 to a design by C W Burnard of Itchenor. The brief was to design a modern motor-yacht for continental cruising over many months and RAMILLE incorporated many quite novel features for the time, including automatic steering, forward observation cockpit and gas-powered domestic equipment. As such RAMILLE was featured in the April 1938 copy of The Motor Boat Magazine.

Carvel mahogany planked hull, copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers. underwater hull laminated with two layers of 4mm marine plywood, stainless steel stapled to original planking and epoxy sheathed finished having timber bilge rail. Round bilge design with full, long keel, raked straight stem and elliptical transom stern.

Accommodation for seven in three cabins.

Forward Owners Stateroom with double berth to port, electric heads to starboard, sky-light and escape hatch to forward cockpit.

Deck Saloon with seating to the rear which could convert to additional berths. Helm position to port. Access to Lower Saloon having dinette converting to double berth, single settee berth and access to the rear lobby.

Galley fitted with sink, cooker and pantry lockers.

Heads Compartment.

Enclosed engine casings and access to Rear Cockpit with gas bottle locker to the portside.

Forward Cockpit with deck access.

Pair 110hp VOLVO AQ31A DIESEL ENGINES fitted around 1980, giving a maximum speed of about 13 knots and cruising speed of 10 knots. Both engines recently serviced. 100-gallon fuel capacity. 100-gallons fresh water capacity. 50-gallon holding tank.

BROKERS NOTE:

RAMILLE has recently been renovated, internally and externally, engines serviced and with a good hull survey. This is a great opportunity to acquire a good sized classic motor-yacht ideal as a live-aboard close to Central London or for extended cruising. Unexpectedly back on the market due to a change of the owner’s circumstance and now offered at a very competitive price.
